Come up one flight of stairs on the corner of George Street and you are in a bright, busy dining room in the heart of Chinatown. This is classic yum cha: dim sum made to order and carried out hot in bamboo steamers, alongside Cantonese barbecue, with roast duck, char siu and crispy pork belly served over rice with pak choi.

Tea is the drink here, brewed in ceramic pots and kept topped up while the steamers keep coming. If you cannot stay, most of the kitchen travels well: takeaway is available, and the noodle dishes in particular hold up nicely on the walk home. We do not offer delivery.

Diners keep calling this one of the more authentic dim sum rooms they have found in Manchester, with dumplings arriving hot and fresh from the steamer.
The service gets singled out again and again: attentive, friendly staff who put things right quickly when something is not spot on.
Portions are described as very generous, and the beef noodle dishes draw particular praise for how soft and tender the beef comes out. Lunchtime fills up fast, so early or late visits are the easier ones.
